I honestly love getting ready for nights out – putting a good music playlist on, spending time on your hair and makeup and generally just pampering yourself. I find it so therapeutic! Last night I went out to a few of the bars in my local city, Leeds. The last few times I’ve been out I’ve worn jeans and a nice top and heels, so it felt nice to get properly glammed up for the first time in ages! Here’s how I did my hair and makeup, and what I wore:

I really love how rollers make hair look, bouncy and wavy, but it never ever works on me. I tried it again last night, as per the picture below, but I think because my hair is long it just doesn’t give me enough shape and definition. It has a nice effect, a subtle bounce, but probably not enough to justify half an hour putting them in – especially when I can achieve the same look in 10 minutes with some curling tongs. But they look cute, right? P.S. Sellotape for eyeshadow is the best beauty hack evurrrrrr. Have a scroll down to the makeup section…

My favourite part! I went for a super glam look last night, with killer eyeshadow, if I say so myself. I went for mauve, deep purple and brown tones in my crease, building and blending until it got to a nice intensity. Next I used my MAC Copper pigment on the centre of my lid, and then I liner’d it up. For heavier eyeshadow looks, I start off with my eyes first, using sellotape as a guide to create a crisp finish. Doing it this way also stops any fall out from ruining your base! Here are all of the products that I used for this look:

  • Face
    • NYX Angel Veil Primer
    • Estee Lauder Double Wear in Wheat
    • Anastasia Beverly Hills Concealer in shade 1.5
    • NYX Translucent Setting Powder
    • MAC Give Me Sun Bronzer
    • BECCA Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Highlighter
    • Urban Decay Setting Spray

  • Eyes
    • Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion
    • I Heart Makeup Naked Palette – you can see my blog post on this palette here!
    • Tom Ford Eyeshadow Quad in Cocoa Mirage
    • NYX Black Gel Eyeliner
    • Maybelline Colossal Volume Cat Eyes Mascara
    • Maybelline Gel Pencil Eyeliner
    • Ardell Demi Wispies Lashes

  • Eyebrows
    • Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown
    • Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

  • Lips
    • MAC Whirl Lip Liner
    • MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick

So I’ve actually had this dress for about 3 years, but I never tend to wear anything that’s tight around my stomach so it remained at the back of my wardrobe, unworn; until last night! It’s quite a slinky dress so it does highlight any bloat, but that’s nothing that a strategically placed clutch can’t hide… The dress is a midi dress, but I wear it slightly higher up, also because then the fabric isn’t pulled tight around my stomach area. The cross over straps are actually meant to cross on the back, but I liked them at the front as it adds a bit of detail to the basic LBD. As I bought this so long ago it’s not still being sold, but there’s plenty of similar dresses online for cheap!screen-shot-2016-09-11-at-10-31-07

These heels were an absolute steal – only £9 in the New Look sale! They are classy and understated, and would compliment jeans just as well as a dress. It has a cut out heel, although I found a similar version here which covers the heel if that’s what you prefer. I usually opt for higher heels with a thick heel/wedge, but I walked in these surprisingly better than I had expected! I also like how the cross over detail on the shoes ties together with the crossed straps on the dress, without looking like I’d tried too hard to co-ordinate the two. They are still available on the website at the sale price of £9 – you can find them here!

And here was the full outfit put together! Can you tell I like the colour black?

If you don’t get loads of selfies with your friend, did you even really go out?

I hope you liked this post! Are GRWM posts something you’d like to see more of? What did you think of this look?
